Duszi Tamas Szekszárd 2004

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Vintage: 2004
Type: Cabernet Franc
Country: Hungary – Szekszárd

We picked up this wine in Hungary during a wine festival in Budapest.  It has a very strong flavour, as most straight Cabernet Francs do, with quite a bit of tannin to sift through to start.  Once it has breathed for a while, great flavours of berries and earth start to flow through and the wine mellows out with a nice relaxing finish.  Quite nice, but stay away if you don’t like your Franc!

Chateau Teleki-Villany

Vintage: 2005
Type: Cabernet Sauvignon
Country: Hungary – Villany

This Cabernet Sauvignon, from the Villany region of Hungary, was enjoyable and full of flavour. It had great deep colour and a pleasant bouquet. As Hungarian Cabernet Sauvignons go it was middle of the pack, which means that it is a good wine (though I find Hungarian wine a bit over-priced).

Bock Ermitage

Vintage: 2006
Type: Blend
Country: Hungary – Villany

An excellent Hungarian wine, if a bit expensive. One of Hungary’s most famous vineyards in their premiere wine region this mixed red ( Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah and others) aged in oak before being bottled. Great to drink and a fine example of Hungarian wine.
