Tarlant Champagne Cuvée Brut Prestige 1998

Monday, October 10th, 2011

Vintage: 1998
Type: Champagne
Country: France – Champagne

This Champagne is clean and fresh on the nose with hints of citrus fruit and loads of autolytic notes.  On the palate there are loads of yummy flavours of biscuity yeast and citrus. Smooth and elegant, this wine is maturing nicely and has lots of life in it still.

Chateaux Tayac 1998

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Vintage: 1998
Type: Bordeaux
Country: France – Bordeaux – Margaux

This Margaux is quite lovely with a nose of flowers and berries on the palette. It is still quite closed at the moment and requires decanting and at least an hour before drinking. Recommended. You can find this wine at Costco in the UK for a very reasonable price.

Taylor’s Quinta de Vargellas 1998

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Vintage: 1998
Type: Port
Country: Portugal – Douro

This dessert wine comes from the Duro region of Portugal. It is what I call a semi-vintage port, as the Quintas tend to be produced in years that a classic vintage is not declared. A Quinta is a specific farm/estate meaning that the wine has come from one place.

We enjoyed this wine over Christmas with friends and it was spectacular.  If you enjoy port, then you’ll love this wine as it was incredible.  A heavy bouquet of berries and plums with a smooth sweet taste and a finish that lasted for minutes.

Champagne Tarlant Rose 1998

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

Vintage: 1998
Type: Champagne
Country: France

Another excellent wine enjoyed on Christmas 2009. This rose is unlike others, as it has the vintage taste and feel to it — with a tonne of bubbles. Very good strong (and dry) taste. recommended.
