Here is my technical analysis:

Appearance:
Clear, deep Garnet.

Nose:
Pronounced. Aroma characteristics of strawberries, dark cherry, sweet spice and vanilla.

Palate:
Medium-bodied, high acidity, medium tannin. Flavour characteristics match the aromas. Slightly creamy or buttery. Medium to long finish.

Conclusion:
Very Good.

I gave (or sacrificed!) a bottle of the 2006 to my favourite Professor of Finance and I hope he keeps it safe in his wine fridge for another few years. I am drinking this wine (early) on my birthday and writing the review as we speak/type.

Technical Analysis:

Appearance: Clear, deep Garnet.

Nose: Clean and pronounced. Aroma characteristics of dark fruits (cherry and plum), sweet spice, vanilla and some oak.

Palate: High acidity, medium tannin (very well integrated, smooth). Flavour characteristics cherry and plum. Full body and long finish.

Conclusion: Outstanding.

Well done to Mr. McGuigan for winning the IWC award for 3 categories (!) on his 2004 Shortlist Riesling. I remember tasting it for the first time at the launch at Kensington Roof Gardens earlier this summer. It was gorgeous - everything an Australian Riesling should be!

This is my technical analysis. I am so pleased to have enjoyed a new bottle with open eyes 6 mos after the first review.

Appearance:
Clear, medium Garnet.

Nose:
Clean, pronounced. Aroma characteristics of ripe, red fruits and dark cherry with plum. Vanilla due to oak. Slightly earthy (like wet leaves).

Palate:
High acidity, medium tannin (integrated), full body, with flavour characteristics of sweet spice, vanilla, cherries. Long finish.

Conclusion:
Outstanding

Fair point. I personally blame the dull grey weather in London for the colour.

There's a bit of an issue here with the clothing. Frankly, those shirts are a bit...vibrant.

They suggest a degree of colour-blindness which renders comments like "dark ruby colour" liable to a degree of suspicion...
