Vintage: 2002
Type: Bordeaux Blend
Country: France – Bordeaux – Côtes de Bourg

90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet.
Excellent nose of berries with a hint of moss and earth. Flavours of robust dark cherry, silky tannins and slight hints of oak. Drinking nicely at the moment but will keep for a few more years yet. Very good and highly recommended.

Vintage: 2005
Type: Bordeaux Blend
Country: France – Bordeaux – Côtes de Blaye

The wine has a deep red colour throughout the glass. The tannins are well integrated, if a bit young. On the pallet there is a rush of berries, cassis and blackcurrant, quite bold for a Bordeaux. The finish is long and sumptuous. The wine is still quite young and will happily age for another 5-10 years.
75% Merlot 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vintage: 2006
Type: Bordeaux
Country: France – Bordeaux – Pomerol

This is one of the best wines that I have ever had the pleasure to taste. Knowing that the wine would require some time to breathe, I decanted the bottle and let sit for several hours. To get a sense of what was in store, I had a tiny taste of the wine after it was decanted: pure pleasure. The tasting left my mouth watering for more, though I forced myself to wait.
The nose was dark and closed – even after being left to breathe. Classic Pomerol herb-tinged, caramel, and sweet black cherry notes intermixed with mocha and spice box. Tannic with a good level of acidity, many levels of complexity, full body flavours of cherries and plums.
Payrol is right next door to Petrus, a small vineyard – much like Petrus and is ideally placed in Pomerol. flavours of berry and terroir. Quite young, but drinking well. This wine can certainly be set down for another 10+ years. Very highly recommended!

Vintage: Non vintage
Type: Tawny Port
Country: Portugal – Douro

This tawny port is exceptional. A great heady nose of dried fruits and nuts, caramel and incredible legs. The flavours are smooth and refined with a finish that seems to last forever. One of the best 20yr Tawny’s on the market!

Vintage: Non vintage
Type: Tawny Port
Country: Portugal – Douro

This is a great Tawny port. Full of sweet nuts and dried fruits and a great viscosity that creates legs that seem to never end. I find that this tawny is a bit softer and subtle compared to the Taylor’s 20, but it is still exceptional. The only thing that makes me sad about this port is that it is hard to find in the UK!

Vintage: Non vintage
Type: Champagne
Country: France – Bordeaux – Côtes de Blaye

This wine is spectacular. Rich, bold flavours of dark berries with earthy mineral undertones. The nose is full with hints of oak and the colour is a deep ruby red. It is drinking very well at the moment but will keep for another 10 years or more if it’s stored properly. A high class wine that won’t break the bank.

Vintage: Non vintage
Type: Champagne
Country: France

A new bottle label, but the same great flavour inside! Whilst I’m not a huge fan of the new label, the wine here is as impressive as ever. Lots of small tight bubbles, flavours of citrus and a hint of yeast. Overall one of my favourite everyday drinking champagne (which is good because I have a few cases of the stuff!)

Vintage: 2009
Type: Rosé Blend
Country: France – Bordeaux – Côtes de Bourg

This is a very special rose wine. It looks like a rose but acts like a red. On the nose, it has very intense fruity flavours (strawberry-like) but on the palate, it tastes of light spices and subtle oak.
I think this wine would fit in at an al fresco late lunch or early dinner of tapas or a variety of roasted veggies, pitas and dips. Delicious! I hope you find this wine as pleasantly surprising as I did!

Vintage: Non vintage
Type: Champagne
Country: France

We tried this champagne at a friends house and boy did it not disappoint! A deep yellow colour, atypical for champagne. In fact this was more of a wine that was carbonated rather than champagne. Great citrus flavours and minerality and nice acidity. Bubbles were smooth and creamy. Recommended.
